Financial planners tend to focus on retirement planning, the end-all, be-all following a life of toil and trouble. It’s the beach-side utopia, loving life, living comfortably, sipping rum runners or pina coladas – you know, never working again…
The concept is simple – reach a point in life where your time is your own.
It’s a nice idea, the dream for which we strive until all hope is lost…
But is hope truly lost? Can we average Americans ever hope to achieve financial freedom? Are there steps we can take down the path to debt-free living (i.e., financial independence) and, finally, financial freedom?
Absolutely!
Most financial planners will want you to establish a budget. However, a budget is like a diet, telling you what you can’t do. Actually, a budget is contrary to human nature. Why not utilize Cash Flow Mapping by Vivensure®?
Saving is simple. Sometimes what you need is the right financial coach, a coach that will work with you to develop an easily-followed, individual- or family-specific plan. Such a plan designed for you by a Vivensure® Money Architect will help eliminate your debt burden, while at the same time growing savings at a guaranteed rate.
But, before financial freedom can be obtained, we must first secure our financial independence.
What is financial independence?
Financial independence means that you rely on no one but yourself to meet your financial needs. You are able to have a roof over your head, food on the table, and clothes on your back.
You say, “But, I do that now.” Really? How much debt do you carry? Do you have a mortgage? Do you have credit cards? Perhaps, auto loans? If you have debt, some might say you are financially independent as long as you are working to pay it off. Nevertheless, I’d argue that you aren’t yet financially independent.
In reality, it doesn’t matter how much money you make. Rather, financial independence depends upon you and your choices. One can be financially independent at any level of income; one can save at any level of income; and, one can move toward financial freedom at any level of income.
What is financial freedom?
Financial freedom means you can make decisions based not on money, but on what makes you happy. This is different for everyone – but the most basic understanding of financial freedom means you can make the absolute most out of your life because your savings and passive income can fund it. Money, or lack thereof, will not dictate your choices.
Traveling the path to debt-free living and financial freedom can be a most arduous journey. Success rests on your passion to live a debt-free life and your willingness to do whatever it takes to reach your goal.
